A local IT asset disposition company added a new member to its executive team.

Grand Rapids-based Tech Defenders recently said it named Matt Cooper as vice president of business development.

In his new role, Cooper will direct the company’s device buyback and sales strategy. He will work with existing clients and channel partners while developing innovative service offerings.

“We are thrilled to welcome Matt to our leadership team,” said Garry VonMyhr, co-founder and CEO of Tech Defenders. “Our three core values guided our decision to confirm Matt was a right person for our organization: find a way, elevate others and see what you’re capable of.”

Prior to joining Tech Defenders, Cooper served as regional sales manager, senior account executive and program manager at Apple for 18 years, where he sold devices to K-12 schools.

Cooper also spent 12 years at Dell working as a regional sales manager and serving the enterprise market.

“In addition to the cultural alignment, Matt’s experience at Apple and in our industry made him a perfect fit for our next stage of growth,” VonMyhr said.

Tech Defenders services businesses and schools by buying, repairing and selling used technology. The company employs over 100 people at its headquarters in Grand Rapids.
